Scope 2 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions

Scope 2 emissions: These are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, heat, and steam.

Scope 2 emissions: These are indirect greenhouse (GHG) emissions from the generation of purchased electricity, heat, and steam. To manage Scope 2 emissions, oil and gas companies can:

  • Purchase renewable energy or invest in renewable energy projects to reduce the emissions associated with their electricity consumption.
  • Improve energy efficiency in their facilities to reduce the amount of electricity they need to purchase.
